How Instruct IQ Can Help You
Instruct IQ supports trainee and qualified driving instructors at different stages of their development, from considering the ADI qualification through to developing your career after you qualify.
You do not need to follow one fixed route with us. You might want support with one part of the qualification, ongoing development as an ADI, help preparing for a Standards Check, or somewhere to continue learning alongside other instructors.
The support you use depends on where you are now and what you need next.
At a glance
- Talk to an Instruct IQ trainer before starting the ADI qualification.
- Train for Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3 individually or as part of a wider training programme.
- Join us for training even if you started your qualification elsewhere.
- Access training and development as a qualified ADI.
- Suitable PDIs may be able to work with Instruct IQ under a trainee licence.
- PDIs who qualify can continue working with Instruct IQ as ADIs.
- Access ongoing learning through The PDI School.
- Training with Instruct IQ does not commit you to joining Instruct IQ as an instructor.
Can I talk to Instruct IQ before starting ADI training?
Yes. You do not need to have started the ADI qualification process before contacting Instruct IQ.
If you are considering becoming a driving instructor, you can contact the Instruct IQ trainer closest to you to discuss the qualification process, training and what the career involves before deciding what you want to do next.
Can I use Instruct IQ for just one part of my ADI training?
Yes. You do not need to complete your whole ADI training journey with Instruct IQ.
Training can be taken for an individual part of the qualification, including Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3, depending on the support you need. You can also come to Instruct IQ if you have already started your training elsewhere.
If you want to understand what each stage involves before deciding what support you need, our Instructor Training pathway explains the three parts of the qualification.
Do I have to join Instruct IQ if I train with you?
No. Training with Instruct IQ does not commit you to joining Instruct IQ as a driving instructor.
Our role as trainers is to support you in working towards your own goals, whether you plan to work independently, join another driving school, continue with an existing organisation or explore working with Instruct IQ.
Training and joining Instruct IQ are separate decisions.
Can qualified driving instructors train with Instruct IQ?
Yes. Instruct IQ training is not limited to people working towards the ADI qualification. Qualified ADIs can access training and development without joining Instruct IQ as an instructor.
Support can include specific areas of professional development or preparation for a Standards Check, including our guide to Understanding the 17 Competencies. If you want to work with a particular trainer, you can view our Instruct IQ trainers and contact the trainer who best fits the support you are looking for.
Can Instruct IQ sponsor my trainee driving instructor licence?
Potentially. Instruct IQ can sponsor suitable PDIs who want to gain experience teaching learners while preparing for Part 3.
Sponsorship is not guaranteed. A trainee licence is connected to the training establishment sponsoring it, so we need to be satisfied that the arrangement is appropriate and that the PDI is able to represent Instruct IQ professionally.
Sponsored PDIs operate as trainee instructors with Instruct IQ Driver Training. Alongside meeting the DVSA requirements of the trainee licence, support may include access to The PDI School, contact with other Instruct IQ PDIs and ADIs, learner enquiries where available, and relevant business support and mentoring.
There are costs associated with the arrangement, including the requirements of operating under the Instruct IQ brand. These would be explained before somebody commits to sponsorship.
The trainee licence has specific DVSA training and supervision requirements. Our Part 3 guide explains these in more detail.
What happens with Instruct IQ after I qualify?
If you are already working with Instruct IQ as a PDI and qualify as an ADI, you can continue working with Instruct IQ under the franchise arrangement.
Where relevant and available, the support can continue too, including access to the wider instructor network, learner enquiries, business support, mentoring and professional development.
Joining or remaining with Instruct IQ does not have to be the end goal of your training. Instructors can leave in accordance with their individual terms and conditions if their plans change.
If you are approaching the end of the qualification process, our After You Qualify guide explains the registration process and immediate steps involved in becoming an ADI.
What is The PDI School?
The PDI School is Instruct IQ's online development platform for trainee and qualified driving instructors, hosted on Skool.
It brings together recorded learning content, live sessions and AI-powered development tools designed to support learning and continued professional development.
Some people working or training with Instruct IQ may have access to The PDI School as part of their support arrangement. It can also be accessed separately by instructors who are not part of Instruct IQ Driver Training. Explore The PDI School
How do I find the right support?
The right starting point depends on where you are in your development and what you want help with.
If you are considering becoming an instructor or want individual training, you can contact the Instruct IQ trainer closest to you. If you are already qualified, you can also approach a trainer for specific professional development without joining Instruct IQ Driver Training.
If you are looking for ongoing learning, live sessions, recorded content and AI tools, The PDI School provides a separate development environment for PDIs and ADIs.
You do not need to fit your development around a fixed Instruct IQ pathway. Start with the support that is relevant to you now.
